Full Day Bergama, Pergamon and Asklepion Tour From Izmir
Embark on a full-day tour from Izmir to explore the ancient city of Bergama (Pergamon) and the healing center of Asklepion.
The day begins with a scenic drive from Izmir to Bergama, an ancient city which was once a great center of culture and held the second largest library in the ancient world. Here you'll explore the Red Basilica, originally a temple for Egyptian gods and converted into a church by early Christians.
Next, you'll visit the Acropolis, a city on top of a hill. It's home to one of the steepest amphitheaters of the ancient world, the Temple of Trajan, and the second largest library of the ancient world.
From there, you'll head to the Asklepion, one of the first medical centers of the ancient world, where treatments included mud baths, drinking sacred water, and dream interpretation.
The tour concludes with a drive back to Izmir, reflecting on the historical and cultural wonders experienced throughout the day.
