Start the day with a visit to Saklikent Gorge, the second largest gorge in Europe. It's a marvelous natural wonder with its 18-kilometer-long canyon. You'll be guided through the icy cold waters that have carved their way through the mountain range over thousands of years. Wear comfortable shoes as the terrain can be slippery.
After exploring the gorge, take a rest at a nearby cafe where you can sample some local Turkish tea or enjoy a traditional Turkish breakfast. With the sound of the rushing water as your backdrop, it’s a peaceful setting that prepares you for the next leg of the tour.
Next, we head to the ancient city of Tlos, which is believed to be one of the oldest Lycian cities. Tlos was once known as the city of heroes and sports. As you walk through the ruins, you'll see remnants of a Roman bathhouse, an Ottoman castle, a Byzantine basilica, and the impressive rock tombs of Lycian nobles. The highlight is the amphitheater with a breathtaking view of the Xanthos valley.
Take a break for lunch at a local restaurant where you can try some delicious traditional cuisines. Make sure to try the local specialty, trout fish.
After lunch, we continue our exploration of Tlos. Visit the ancient stadium, which once held chariot races, and the bathhouse, which was a vital part of daily life in ancient times.
As the day winds down, we make our way to a local carpet weaving cooperative where you'll get a chance to see how traditional Turkish carpets are made.
The day ends with a comfortable drive back to your accommodation, leaving you with memories of a beautiful day spent exploring Turkey's rich history and natural landscapes.
